“ I was hoping for a place to laptop or even to plug in my phone but Deke's isn't that. Instead, it is a very small standing-room-only coffee shop with a very limited menu of coffees and only croissants. Italian-style, and that's perfectly okay. No syrups here. No whipped cream either. My order this morning was a cortado and it took a few minutes to be prepared. By that time, I'd found a spot at the counter to stand. My coffee was perfect. Absolutely five stars perfect. Delicious, hot, and prepared exactly how a cortado should be - steamed (not foamed) milk with an equal amount of espresso. There are a couple of seats outside but the angle of the Sun this morning meant that you'll be baking. ”

They want you to walk away happy. I had originally ordered an iced cap with regular milk but I need a little sweetness to my coffees. They didn’t have sugar but offered me a dried date to pair with it. I was obviously so confused, so they made me another one with their homemade cashew milk. W-O-W. Now that was the sweet spot (no pun intended). I don’t live close by but my parents do; I’ll always go back for their coffee. ”
